Flip is a private inventory and pricing tool for a small resale business. Product accounts exist only by invitation. The public Marginspace waitlist registers interest without creating an inventory account; its details are explained in the waitlist privacy notice. Flip is operated by Peter van Aller in Austin, Texas.
What it holds
- Your account — your email address and a hash of your password. The password itself is never stored and cannot be recovered from the hash, which is why a reset sets a new one rather than telling you the old one.
- What you type — the items you buy and sell, what they cost, what they sold for, your receipts, your mileage, and the photos you upload.
- If you connect eBay — a refresh token from eBay, and the identifiers of the listings Flip created for you. See below.
What it does not do
There is no analytics, no tracking pixel, no advertising network and no third-party script of any kind on these pages. Nothing you type is sold, shared, published, or used to train anything. Nobody is profiled.
Two cookies are set and both are strictly necessary: one that keeps you signed in, and one short-lived one during the eBay connection flow that exists to prove the redirect came from here. Your filter and view preferences are kept in your own browser and are never sent anywhere.
eBay
If you connect your eBay account, eBay gives Flip a token that lets it create and publish listings and read your business policies — the permissions are shown to you on eBay's own consent screen before you agree. Flip uses that access for one purpose: to publish the items you have chosen to publish, and to read the policy names so you can pick one.
The token is stored in Flip's database, is never sent to a browser, and is never shared with anyone. You can disconnect at any time in Settings, which makes Flip forget it, and you can revoke Flip's access from your own eBay account settings, which stops it working everywhere. Listings already published stay on eBay and are yours.
Where it lives
Flip runs on Vercel and stores its data in a Neon Postgres database. Photos are stored in Cloudflare R2. Account emails — invitations and password resets — are sent through Resend. Those four are the only companies your data reaches, each of them acting on our instructions to run the service, and none of them for their own purposes. Backups are kept so the data survives a failure.
When you export a listing to eBay or Depop, or publish to eBay, the contents of that listing go to that company and are then governed by their privacy policy rather than this one. That only happens when you press the button.
How long
Your records are kept until you delete them. Deleting something puts it in the trash first, so it can be undone; emptying the trash is the point at which it is gone. Backups fall away on their own schedule. Close your account and everything belonging to it is deleted.
Your rights
Ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and it will be done — write to privacy@estetika.org. This is a small tool run by one person, so the answer comes from a person rather than a form. If you are in the UK or the EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything that materially affects what happens to your data will be told to you directly, not left here to be discovered.
